Avengers: Savage Captain America

With the release of the Avengers this week, I thought why not build some Savage Worlds versions of the Avengers themselves? I’ll be using the Savage Worlds Explorers edition, and the Super Powers Companion previously reviewed on the site if you wan’t to follow along.

I’ll be going off of the movie versions of these characters, because I’m more familiar with them. I have read multiple comics with each of the avengers, but to keep things simple we’ll stick with the movie versions. There not that different anyway.

Main Stats: Remember these are PRE-superpowers stats. So don’t be weirded out by his low strength and vigor ect. Remember he starts as a weakling.

        Agility: d6
        Smarts: d6
        Spirit: d12
       Strength: d4
       Vigor: d4

Skills(I’m only writing down trained skills): Again, PRE-superpowers

Climbing: d4

Explanation: I think his persuasion works for his leadership abilities.

Derived Stats:

Pace: 6
Parry: 7
Toughness: 4
Charisma: 0

Just a little something I made a while back

Enemy (Minor): Doesn’t come up in the Avengers(Yes, seen it and…don’t hesitate. You should too.), but dude has quite an interesting cast of villains. Arnim Zola anyone?
Heroic(Major): He’s God Damn Captain America

Super Powers
Power points: That’s +5 points to buy super powers
 Two words: Adamantium Shield
Ambidextrous: Let’s Him throw/punch with both hands.
Command: Gives him that power that really makes Cap unique on the team, which is his leadership.

Adamantium Shield: Regular Shield stats, except obviously it can block anything.

Super Powers:

Super Strength: Brings it up to a d12.
Super Vigor:  Brings it up to a d10.
Super Agility: Brings it up to a d12 too.
Super Throwing: Brings it up to a d10.
Super Fighting: Brings it up to a d12+1.
Attack, ranged: Throw that shield! Uses throwing instead of shooting, does 2d6 and is a heavy weapon. Not that weird shield over to the left though.

The end… I’m keeping all the Avengers at 20 experience to keep them all at the same power level, while giving them some punch. Captain America is weird, because I had to focus his abilities in places not to do with Strength, ect more than other heroes. Anyway, Cap may be a little too strong, or maybe the others are too weak. Still I think we proved that the Super Hero Companion can handle quite a lot of superheros. Also The Avengers is out today in the US. Why are you reading this when you could be watching it? We’ll be podcasting about it, so look for that next Wednesday!
