Putting the Savage(Worlds) in our Heroes: Buffy Summers

What is this:  Savage worlds claims to be a universal system. Usable for everything.  With this series I plan to look to see if this is the case, and look at some of my favorite characters. Today I’m going to look at Buffy Summers, from the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I based it on Buffy around season 7 but it really shouldn’t matter as her abilities don’t change drastically from season to season.

Remember: You can use this in your savage worlds game. I’m not going to hurt you if you change this, in fact I encourage it.  Follow along with your Savage Worlds Explorers Edition.

Who is Buffy:  The chosen one. The slayer of vampires and other nastiness. She is the lone warrior in a battle against the forces of darkness. Her powers were transferred to her from the previous slayer after she died. Buffy is a troubled individual with personal problems like taking care of her little sister, and of course saving the world every know and then.

Main Stats:

 Agility: d10
Smarts:
d4
Spirit:
d12
Strength:
d10
Vigor:
d10

Explanation: Let’s get one thing straight, a d4 of Smarts doesn’t mean that she’s dumb ok. It just mean she has average to low intelligence. If you’ll remember back to the early seasons Buffy would have problems with tests, homework and the like, so I think it fits. All the physical stats are of course boons from being the slayer, and training. I made Spirit her best stat because I think Buffy’s persuasiveness and ability                                                    to pick herself after a defeat was what made her not just another slayer.

Skills(I’m only writing down trained skills):

Wow, look at those purple pants...freaking 80's

Fighting: d12
intimidation:
d8
investigation:
d6
Knowledge(occult):
d6
Notice:
d6
Persuasion:
d6
Shooting:
d8
Stealth:
d6

Explanation: Buffy could be intimidating especially after she’d killed a couple hundred vampires. She was mostly useless in researching the bad guys, but would occasionally be the one to crack the code as it were. Buffy knows enough about the stuff that she fights to kill them, but that’s about it.

Derived Stats:

Pace: 6
Parry:
8
Toughness:
7
Charisma:
2

Explanation:  See below(and above!), they are derived after all…

Crossbow:As per the rules.
The Scythe:
As per the Great Axe, but it increases the strength and vigor by one die type for slayers.(not already in stat block)

The end… So, in the end I figured Savage Worlds could work with Buffy. It will be more interesting to see how it handles Willow, since I haven’t made a character that uses magic yet. I did have to make one edge, the slayer edge which basically makes it easier for her to stake vampires in rapid succession.

Rank: Legendary(95 xp)- I think that about half of that comes from actual experience and half of that is just the inherited ability.

Come back tomorrow when I take a look at Xander. If there is a character you would like to see tackled please let me know by commenting below(its painless!).
