Putting the Savage(Worlds) in our Heroes: Scott Pilgrim

What is this:  Savage worlds claims to be a universal system. Usable for everything.  With this series I plan to look to see if this is the case, and look at some of my favorite characters. Today I’m going to look at Scott Pilgrim.  NOTE I am using the book Scott, not the movie Scott, although there is not much different with the respective Scott’s.

Remember: You can use this in your savage worlds game. I’m not going to hurt you if you change this, in fact I encourage it.  Follow along with your Savage Worlds Explorers Edition.

Who is Scott Pilgrim:  24 year old, and hero of the Scott Pilgrim Series(Who woulda thunk it!). Kickass fighter, especially of Evil Ex-boyfriends( Romona: Evil Ex’s). Plays Bass for the Sex bob-ombs, and guitar player for Shatterband. Works at a cheap restaurant and kinda sucks at it. Overall awesome dude.

Main Stats:

Literally the center of the universe.

        Agility: d10
        Smarts: d4
        Spirit: d12
       Strength: d8
       Vigor: d8

Explanation:I see Scott as more of an agility fighter than a full strength fighter. Of course Scott is clueless, so that explains his smarts. I think Spirit is the reason that Scott was able to fight most of his battles. It was his determination to be with Ramona. See the Katayanagi twins. vol. 5 to see what I mean.

Skills(I’m only writing down trained skills):

Fighting: d10

Explanation: Some of these don’t exactly fit, but I can seem to remember Scott trying to be stealthy at some point, and he defiantly climbed something… Scott has gets a lot of his info from his friends(see Wallace).  Scott would usually try to taunt the ex’s he fought. Scott’s persuasion skills actually might have more to do with who he was persuading then his skills, but still.

Derived Stats:

Pace: 6
Parry: 10
Toughness: 7

Delusional (Minor):  Gideon(not the cat) has been messing with his memories for the whole series.
Vow(Minor): Scott won’t hit a girl. Of course he can get over it, but its a problem for him.
Enemy(Major): The seven evil Ex’s.

Luck:  Eh, the guys lucky.
Improved Block: The guy is really good at blocking at least when its hand to hand.
Combat Reflexes: Again, Scott is good at picking himself up, this helps with that.
First Strike: Scott, once he actually gets into the fight usually presses the attack. This is meant to mirror that mentality.
Hard to Kill: Meant to emulate the Extra life a bit. It’s the best I could do.

Let it be known that if I made a Scott Pilgrim RPG the stats would include Guts, Heart and Balls.

Power of Understanding:  Great Sword.
Power of Love:
Wristbands: Armor +1(Little Homebrew for you)

Explanation: Depending on where Scott is, he has the power of Love or the Power of Understanding. Also most of the time he wears the wristbands.

The end… So there you have it. How did it work out? Pretty well all things considered. Gear wasn’t a problem because Scott doesn’t have much, and stats worked fine.  Most of the skills wen’t unused. Which is not a bad thing, but some of Scott’s skills were not represented, like his (albeit bad) bass playing, and singing.  Check back in later(don’t forget there is a subscribe button on the side, or twitter…) for another installment in this series.

And if there is a character you would like to see tackled please let me know by commenting.
